How to write text

Text input is used in many of the phone functions, such as notes and messages. Follow these instructions to learn how to write text.

    Introduction
    • You can select a number of settings when keying in text.
    • The following steps show you how to change writing language, turn on word suggestion and write text.

    Find "Input Languages"
    • Slide your finger down the display starting from the top edge of your phone.
    • Press Settings.
    • Press Language and Input.
    • Press Input Languages.

    Add writing language
    • Press the indicator next to Language detection to turn off the function.
    • Press Add/Remove Languages.
    • Press the box next to the required language to add it as a writing language.
    • When the box next to the language is ticked (V), it's selected.
    • Press Save.
    • Press Back.

    Turn on word suggestion
    • Press On-Screen Keyboard.
    • Press the drop down list below Portrait Mode or the drop down list below Landscape Mode.
    • Press In-Column or In-Letter.
    • If you turn on word suggestion, words are suggested as you key in the first letters.

    Save settings
    • Press Back.
    • Slide your finger up the display starting from the bottom edge of your phone to return to standby mode.

    How to write text
    • The following steps require that you're writing text and that the keypad is visible.

    Write text
    • Press and hold the language icon.
    • Slide your finger to the required language to select a writing language.
    • Press the letter keys to key in the required word.
    • A number of words based on the letters you've keyed in are displayed.
    • Press and drag the required word upwards to insert it.
    • The selected language determines which characters are available and the language used for word suggestion.the language icon is only available if you've added more than one writing language.

    Write numbers and symbols
    • Press ?123.
    • If required, press &% to see more symbols.
    • Press the required numbers or the required symbols.
    • Press ABC to return to text input.
