Set up your phone for Telstra Mail

You can set up your phone to send and receive email from your Telstra email account. Remember, you need to set up your phone for internet and create a Telstra email account.

Select an alternative email configuration:
- Set up your phone for email
- Set up your phone for Exchange email

    Find "APN"
    • Slide your finger down the display starting from the top edge of your phone.
    • Press Settings.
    • Press Network Connections.
    • Press Mobile Network.
    • Press APN.

    Enter APN
    • Press the field below Access Point Name (APN) and key in telstra.wap

    Save data connection
    • Press Save.
    • Press Back.
    • Press Back.
    • Slide your finger up the display starting from the bottom edge of your phone to return to standby mode.

    Find "Accounts"
    • Slide your finger down the display starting from the top edge of your phone.
    • Press Settings.
    • Press Accounts.

    Create email account
    • If you've already set up an email account:
    • Press Add Account.
    • Press Email, Calendar and Contacts.

    Enter email address
    • Key in your Telstra email address and press Next.
    • E.g. user@bigpond.com, user@bigpond.net.au or user@telstra.com.

    Enter password
    • Key in the password for your Telstra email account and press Next.

    Enter account name
    • Press the field below Description and key in the required name.

    Enter sender name
    • Press the field below Display Name and key in the required sender name.

    Enter username
    • Press the field below Username and key in the username for your Telstra email account.
    • The username for your Telstra email account is your email address, e.g. user@bigpond.com, user@bigpond.net.au or user@telstra.com.

    Enter incoming server
    • Press the field below Server Address and key in imap.telstra.com

    Enter incoming port
    • Press the field below Port and key in 993

    Turn on SSL encryption of incoming email
    • Press the indicator next to Use SSL to turn on SSL encryption.

    Enter username and password for the outgoing server
    • Press the field below SMTP Username and key in the username for the outgoing server.
    • Press the field below SMTP Password and key in the password for the outgoing server.
    • The username for your Telstra email account is your email address, e.g. user@bigpond.com, user@bigpond.net.au or user@telstra.com.

    Enter outgoing server
    • Press the field below SMTP Server Address and key in smtp.telstra.com

    Enter outgoing port
    • Press the field below SMTP Port and key in 465

    Turn on SSL encryption of outgoing email
    • Press the drop down list below SMTP Encryption.
    • Press SSL.

    Select setting for retrieving new email
    • Press the drop down list below Sync Interval.
    • Press the required period or Manual.

    Select period for retrieving email
    • Press the drop down list below Initial Retrieval Amount.
    • Press the required period.

    Save information
    • Press Done.

    Exit
    • Slide your finger up the display starting from the bottom edge of your phone to return to standby mode.
