I can't send and receive email
If you can't send and receive email, there may be several causes of the problem.
Solution: Contact your email provider for the correct settings for the incoming or outgoing server.
Solution: Write and send email
- Slide your finger right on the display.
- Press Compose.
- Press the required email account.
- Key in the first letters of the required contact.
- Matching contacts are displayed.
- Press the required contact.
- Repeat the procedure to add more recipients.
- Press Subject and key in the required subject.
- Press the text input field and write the required text.
- Press and hold space until the keypad is hidden.
- Press Attach.
- Press File.
- Go to the required folder.
- Press the required file to tick it.
- Press Done.
- Press Send when you've finished your email.
- Slide your finger up the display starting from the bottom edge of your phone to return to standby mode.
Solution: Set up your phone for email
1. Find "APN"
Slide your finger down the display starting from the top edge of your phone.
- Slide your finger down the display starting from the top edge of your phone.
- Press Settings.
- Press Network Connections.
- Press Mobile Network.
- Press APN.
- Press the field below Access Point Name (APN) and key in telstra.wap
- Press Save.
- Press Back.
- Press Back.
- Slide your finger up the display starting from the bottom edge of your phone to return to standby mode.
- Slide your finger down the display starting from the top edge of your phone.
- Press Settings.
- Press Accounts.
- If you've already set up an email account:
- Press Add Account.
- Press Email, Calendar and Contacts.
- Key in your email address and press Next.
- Key in the password for your email account and press Next.
- If this image is displayed:
- Follow steps 9 through 14.
- If this image is displayed:
- Follow steps 15 through 29.
- Press the field below Description and key in a name for the email account.
- Press the indicator next to Sync Email, Sync Contacts and Sync Calendar to turn synchronisation of these data types on or off.
- Press Done.
- Wait while the email account is activated.
- Press the email account you've just set up.
- Press the field below Sync Interval.
- Press the required period or Manual.
- Press Save.
- Slide your finger up the display starting from the bottom edge of your phone to return to standby mode.
- Press the field below Description and key in a name for the email account.
- Press the field below Display Name and key in the required sender name.
- Press the field below Username and key in the username for your email account.
- Press the field below Email Address and key in your email address.
- Press the field below Password and key in the password for your email account.
- Press the field below Server Address and key in the name of your email provider's incoming server.
- Press the field below Port and key in 110
- Press the indicator next to Use SSL to turn off SSL encryption.
- Press the field below SMTP Server Address and key in the name of your email provider's outgoing server.
- Press the field below SMTP Port and key in 25
- Press the drop down list below SMTP Encryption.
- Press Off.
- Press the drop down list below Sync Interval.
- Press the required period or Manual.
- Press the drop down list below Initial Retrieval Amount.
- Press the required period.
- Press Done.
- Slide your finger up the display starting from the bottom edge of your phone to return to standby mode.
Solution: Set up your phone for Exchange email
1. Find "APN"

- Slide your finger down the display starting from the top edge of your phone.
- Press Settings.
- Press Network Connections.
- Press Mobile Network.
- Press APN.
- Press the field below Access Point Name (APN) and key in telstra.wap
- Press Save.
- Press Back.
- Press Back.
- Slide your finger up the display starting from the bottom edge of your phone to return to standby mode.
- Slide your finger down the display starting from the top edge of your phone.
- Press Settings.
- Press Accounts.
- If you've already set up an email account:
- Press Add Account.
- Press Advanced.
- Press Microsoft® Exchange ActiveSync.
- Key in a name for the email account.
- Press the field below Domain and key in the domain.
- Press the field below Username and key in your username.
- Press the field below Email Address and key in your email address.
- Press the field below Password and key in the password for the server.
- Press the field below Server Address and key in the server name.
- Press the field below Port and key in the required port number.
- Press the indicator next to Use SSL to turn SSL encryption on or off.
- Press the indicator next to Push to turn the function on or off.
- If you turn off Push:
- Press the field below Sync Interval.
- Press the required period or Manual.
- Please note: Each time your phone connects to the server to synchronise, data charges will apply.
- Press the field below Sync Timeframe.
- Press the required period.
- Press Next.
- Press the indicator next to the following data types to turn synchronisation of these data types on or off:
- Sync Email
- Sync Contacts
- Sync Calendar
- Sync Tasks
- Sync Memos
- Press Done.
- Wait while the email account is activated.
- Slide your finger up the display starting from the bottom edge of your phone to return to standby mode.
Solution: Set up your phone for Telstra Mail
1. Find "APN"

- Press Settings.
- Press Network Connections.
- Press Mobile Network.
- Press APN.
- Press the field below Access Point Name (APN) and key in telstra.wap
- Press Save.
- Press Back.
- Press Back.
- Slide your finger up the display starting from the bottom edge of your phone to return to standby mode.
- Slide your finger down the display starting from the top edge of your phone.
- Press Settings.
- Press Accounts.
- If you've already set up an email account:
- Press Add Account.
- Press Email, Calendar and Contacts.
- Key in your Telstra email address and press Next.
- Key in the password for your Telstra email account and press Next.
- Press the field below Description and key in the required name.
- Press the field below Display Name and key in the required sender name.
- Press the field below Username and key in the username for your Telstra email account.
- Press the field below Server Address and key in imap.telstra.com
- Press the field below Port and key in 993
- Press the indicator next to Use SSL to turn on SSL encryption.
- Press the field below SMTP Username and key in the username for the outgoing server.
- Press the field below SMTP Password and key in the password for the outgoing server.
- Press the field below SMTP Server Address and key in smtp.telstra.com
- Press the field below SMTP Port and key in 465
- Press the drop down list below SMTP Encryption.
- Press SSL.
- Press the drop down list below Sync Interval.
- Press the required period or Manual.
- Press the drop down list below Initial Retrieval Amount.
- Press the required period.
- Press Done.
- Slide your finger up the display starting from the bottom edge of your phone to return to standby mode.
