Set up your phone for Telstra Mail

You can set up your phone to send and receive email from your Telstra email account. Remember, you need to set up your phone for internet and create a Telstra email account.

Select an alternative email configuration:
- Set up your phone for Exchange email

    Find "E-mail"
    • Press the menu icon.
    • Press E-mail.

    Create new email account
    • Press Other.
    • If an email account has been created already, do the following instead:Press the menu icon. Press Settings. Press Add account. Press Other.

    Enter email address
    • Key in your Telstra email address.
    • E.g. user@bigpond.com, user@bigpond.net.au or user@telstra.com.

    Enter password
    • Press Password and key in the password for your Telstra email account.
    • Press MANUAL SETUP.

    Select server type
    • Press IMAP4.
    • Press NEXT.

    Enter incoming server
    • Key in imap.telstra.com

    Turn on encryption of incoming email
    • Press the drop down list below "Security type".
    • Press SSL (Accept all certificates).

    Enter incoming port number
    • Press the field below "Port number" and key in 993
  • 9
    Enter username
    • Press the field below "Username" and key in the username for your Telstra email account.
    • Press NEXT.
    • The username for your Telstra email account is your email address, e.g. user@bigpond.com, user@bigpond.net.au or user@telstra.com.

    Enter outgoing server
    • Key in smtp.telstra.com

    Turn on encryption of outgoing email
    • Press the drop down list below "Security type".
    • Press SSL (Accept all certificates).

    Enter outgoing port
    • Press the field below "Port number" and key in 465

    Turn on SMTP authentication
    • Press the box next to "Require sign-in" to turn on the function.
    • Press the field below "Username" and key in the username for your Telstra email account.
    • Press the field below "Password" and key in the password for your Telstra email account.
    • Press NEXT.
    • The username for your Telstra email account is your email address, e.g. user@bigpond.com, user@bigpond.net.au or user@telstra.com.

    Enter email account name
    • Key in a name for your email account

    Enter sender name
    • Press the field below "Your name" and key in the required sender name.
    • Press DONE.

    Select setting for retrieval of new email
    • Press the menu icon.
    • Press Settings.
    • Press the name of the email account you've just set up.
    • Press Sync schedule.
    • Press Peak time sync.
    • Press Manual or the required period.
    • Press the required days below "Peak days".
    • Press the fields below "Peak time" and follow the instructions on the display to set the required times.
    • Press Off-peak time sync.
    • Press Manual or the required period.
    • Press SAVE.

    Return to the home screen
    • Press the home icon to return to the home screen.
