I can't send and receive email
If you can't send and receive email, there may be several causes of the problem.
Solution: Contact your email provider for the correct settings for the incoming or outgoing server.
Solution: Write and send email
- Slide your finger left on the display.
- Press the required email account.
- Press +.
- Key in the first letters of the required contact.
- Matching contacts are displayed.
- Press the required contact.
- Repeat the procedure to add more recipients.
- Press Subject and key in the required subject.
- Press the text input field and write the required text.
- Press the attachment icon.
- Go to the required folder.
- Press the required file.
- When a picture or video clip is ticked (V), it's selected.
- Press the confirm icon.
- Press the send icon when you've finished your email.
- Press the Home key to return to standby mode.
Solution: Set up your phone for POP3 email
- Slide your finger left on the display.
- Press Settings.
- Press email+accounts.
- Press add an account.
- Press advanced setup.
- Press the field below Email address and key in your email address.
- Press the field below Password and key in the password for your email account.
- Press next.
- Press Internet email.
- Press the field below Account name and key in a name for the email account.
- Press the field below Your name and key in the required sender name.
- Press the field below Incoming email server and key in the name of your email provider's incoming server.
- Press the field below Account type.
- Press POP3.
- Press the field below Username and key in the username for your email account.
- Press the field below Outgoing (SMTP) email server and key in the name of your email provider's outgoing server.
- Press Outgoing server requires authentication to turn SMTP authentication on or off.
- When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), SMTP authentication is turned on.
- If you turn on SMTP authentication:
- Follow the instructions on the display to key in the username and password for your email account.
- Press advanced settings.
- Press Require SSL for incoming email and Require SSL for outgoing email to turn off SSL encryption.
- When the box next to the menu items is empty, SSL encryption is turned off.
- Press the field below Download new content.
- Press the required period or manually.
- Press the field below Download email from.
- Press the required period or any time.
- Press sign in.
- Wait while the email account is activated.
- Press the Home key to return to standby mode.
Solution: Set up your phone for Exchange email
- Slide your finger left on the display.
- Press Settings.
- Press email+accounts.
- Press add an account.
- Press advanced setup.
- Press the field below Email address and key in your email address.
- Press the field below Password and key in the password for the server.
- Press next.
- Press Exchange ActiveSync.
- Press the field below Username and key in your username.
- Press the field below Domain and key in the domain.
- Press the field below Server and key in the server name.
- Press Server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection to turn SSL encryption on or off.
- When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), the function is turned on.
- Press the field below Account name and key in a name for the email account.
- Press the field below Download new content.
- Press the required period or manually.
- Please note: Each time your phone connects to the server to synchronise, data charges will apply.
- Press the field below Download email from.
- Press the required period or any time.
- Press Email, Contacts, Calendar and Tasks to turn synchronisation of each data type on or off.
- When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), synchronisation for the required data type is turned on.
- Press sign in.
- Wait while the email account is activated.
- Press the Home key to return to standby mode.
Solution: Set up your phone for Telstra Mail
- Slide your finger left on the display.
- Press Settings.
- Press email+accounts.
- Press add an account.
- Press advanced setup.
- Press the field below Email address and key in your Telstra email address.
- Press the field below Password and key in the password for your Telstra email account.
- Press next.
- Press Internet email.
- Press the field below Account name and key in a name for the email account.
- Press the field below Your name and key in the required sender name.
- Press the field below Incoming email server and key in imap.telstra.com
- Press the field below Account type.
- Press IMAP4.
- Press the field below Username and key in the username for your Telstra email account.
- Press the field below Outgoing (SMTP) email server and key in smtp.telstra.com
- Press Outgoing server requires authentication to turn on SMTP authentication.
- When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), SMTP authentication is turned on.
- Follow the instructions on the display to key in the username and password for your email account.
- Press advanced settings.
- Press Require SSL for incoming email and Require SSL for outgoing email to turn on SSL encryption.
- When the box next to the menu items is ticked (V), SSL encryption is turned off.
- Press the field below Download new content.
- Press the required period or manually.
- Press the field below Download email from.
- Press the required period or any time.
- Press sign in.
- Wait while the email account is activated.
- Press the Home key to return to standby mode.
