Set up your phone for Telstra Mail

You can set up your phone to send and receive email from your Telstra email account. Remember, you need to set up your phone for internet and create a Telstra email account.

Select an alternative email configuration:
- Set up your phone for email
- Set up your phone for Exchange email

    Find "email+accounts"
    • Slide your finger down the display starting from the top edge of your phone.
    • Press ALL SETTINGS.
    • Press email+accounts.

    Create new email account
    • Press add an account.

    Select email provider
    • Press advanced setup.

    Enter email address
    • Press the field below "Email address" and key in your Telstra email address.
    • E.g. user@bigpond.com, user@bigpond.net.au or user@telstra.com.

    Enter password
    • Press the field below "Password" and key in the password for your Telstra email account.
    • Press next.

    Select account type
    • Press Internet email.

    Enter email account name
    • Press the field below "Account name" and key in the required name.

    Enter sender name
    • Press the field below "Your name" and key in the required sender name.

    Enter incoming server
    • Press the field below "Incoming email server" and key in imap.telstra.com

    Select server type
    • Press the field below "Account type".
    • Press IMAP4.

    Enter username
    • Press the field below "Username" and key in the username for your Telstra email account.
    • The username for your Telstra email account is your email address, e.g. user@bigpond.com, user@bigpond.net.au or user@telstra.com.

    Enter outgoing server
    • Press the field below "Outgoing (SMTP) email server" and key in smtp.telstra.com

    Turn on SMTP authentication
    • Press Outgoing server requires authentication to turn on the function.
    • Press Use the same username and password for sending email to use the username and password for your Telstra email account.

    Edit advanced settings
    • Press advanced settings.

    Turn on encryption of email
    • Press Require SSL for incoming email and Require SSL for outgoing email until the function is turned on.

    Select setting for retrieval of new email
    • Press the field below "Download new content".
    • Press the required interval or manually.

    Select period for synchronisation of email
    • Press the field below "Download email from".
    • Press the required period or any time.

    Finish setup
    • Press sign in.

    Return to the home screen
    • Press the Home key to return to the home screen.
