I can't send and receive email
If you can't send and receive email, there may be several causes of the problem.
Solution: Contact your email provider for the correct settings for the incoming or outgoing server.
Solution: Write and send email
- Press Apps.
- Press Email.
- Press the name of the email account.
- Press the required email account.
- Press the new email icon.
- Key in the first letters of the required contact.
- Matching contacts are displayed.
- Press the required contact.
- Repeat the procedure to add more recipients.
- Press Subject.
- Key in a subject for the email.
- Press the text input field.
- Write the text for your email.
- Press the attachment icon.
- Go to the required folder.
- Press the required file.
- Press the required size.
- Press OK.
- Press the send icon when you've finished your email.
- Press the Home key to return to standby mode.
Solution: Set up your phone for email
- Press Apps.
- Press Settings.
- Press More settings.
- Press Mobile networks.
- Press Access Point Names.
- Press the Menu key.
- Press New APN.
- Press Name.
- Key in Telstra Mail and press OK.
- Press APN.
- Key in telstra.wap and press OK.
- Press MCC.
- Key in 505 and press OK.
- Press MNC.
- Key in 01 and press OK.
- Press Authentication type.
- Press None.
- Press APN type.
- Key in default and press OK.
- Press the Menu key.
- Press Save.
- Press the field next to Telstra Mail to fill in the field.
- Press the Home key to return to standby mode.
- Press Apps.
- Press Email.
- Press account@example.com and key in your email address.
- Press Password and key in the password for your email account.
- Press Next.

- Follow steps 14 through 17.

- Follow the instructions on the display to select email account settings.
- Press Next.
- Press the field below Give this account a name (Optional) and key in a name for your email account (such as Private or Work).
- Press Done.
- Wait while your phone retrieves new email.
- Press the Home key to return to standby mode.
- Press POP3 account.
- Key in the username for your email account.
- Press the field below POP3 server and key in the name or IP address of your email provider's incoming server.
- Press the drop down list below Security type.
- Press None.
- Press the field below Port and key in 110
- Press the drop down list below Delete email from server.
- Press Never or When I delete from Inbox.
- Press Next.
- Key in the name of your email provider's outgoing server.
- Press the drop down list below Security type.
- Press None.
- Press the field below Port and key in 25
- Press Require sign-in to turn SMTP authentication on or off.
- When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), SMTP authentication is turned on.
- Press Next.
- Press the drop down list below Email check frequency.
- Press Never or the required period.
- Press Next.
- Press the field below Give this account a name (Optional) and key in a name for your email account (such as Private or Work).
- Press the field below Your name (displayed on outgoing messages) and key in the required sender name.
- Press Done.
- Wait while your phone retrieves new email.
- Press the Home key to return to standby mode.

- Press Apps.
- Press Settings.
- Press More settings.
- Press Mobile networks.
- Press Access Point Names.
- Press the Menu key.
- Press New APN.
- Press Name.
- Key in Telstra Mail and press OK.
- Press APN. If you're on a pay monthly price plan:
- Key in telstra.wap and press OK.
- Press MCC.
- Key in 505 and press OK.
- Press MNC.
- Key in 01 and press OK.
- Press Authentication type.
- Press None.
- Press APN type.
- Key in default and press OK.
- Press the Menu key.
- Press Save.
- Press the field next to Telstra Mail to fill in the field.
- Press the Home key to return to standby mode.
- Press Apps.
- Press Email.
- Press account@example.com and key in your email address.
- Press Password and key in your password.
- Press Manual setup.
- Press Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
- Press the field below Domain\user name.
- Enter domain and username separated by a "\".
- Press the field below Exchange server and key in the server address.
- Press Use secure connection (SSL) to turn SSL encryption on or off.
- When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), the function is turned on.
- Press Next.
- Press the drop down list below Peak schedule and Off-peak schedule.
- Press Push, Manual or the required interval.
- Please note:
- Each time your phone connects to the server to synchronise, data charges will apply.
- Press Period to sync Email.
- Press the required setting.
- Press Emails retrieval size.
- Press the required setting.
- Press Period to sync Calendar.
- Press the required setting.
- Press one of the following data types to turn synchronisation on or off:
- Sync Email
- Sync Contacts
- Sync Calendar
- Sync Task
- When a menu item is ticked (V) synchronisation is turned on.
- Press Next.
- Press the field below Give this account a name (Optional) and key in the required name.
- Press Done.
- Press the Home key to return to standby mode.

- Press SSL (Accept all certificates).

- Press Next.
- Key in smtp.telstra.com
- Press the drop down list below Security type.
- Press SSL (Accept all certificates).
- Press the field below Port and key in 465
- Press Require sign-in to turn on SMTP authentication.
- When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), SMTP authentication is turned on.
- Press the field below "User name" and key in the username for your Telstra email account.
- Press the field below "Password" and key in the password for your Telstra email account.
- Press Next.
- Press the drop down list below Peak schedule and Off-peak schedule.
- Press Never or the required interval.
- Please note:
- Each time your phone connects to the server to synchronise, data charges will apply.
- Press Sync Email to turn the function on or off.
- Press Notify me when email arrives to turn the function on or off.
- Press Automatically download attachments when connected to Wi-Fi to turn the function on or off.
- Press Next.
- Press the field below Give this account a name (Optional) and key in a name for your email account (such as Private or Work).
- Press the field below Your name (displayed on outgoing messages) and key in the required sender name.
- Press Done.
- Wait while your phone retrieves new email.
- Press the Home key to return to standby mode.
