Set up your phone for Telstra Mail
You can set up your phone to send and receive email from your Telstra email account. Remember, you need to set up your phone for internet and create a Telstra email account.
Select an alternative email configuration:

1Find "Access Point Names"
- Press Apps.
- Press Settings.
- Press More settings.
- Press Mobile networks.
- Press Access Point Names.

2Create new data connection
- Press the Menu key.
- Press New APN.

3Enter data connection name
- Press Name.
- Key in Telstra Mail and press OK.

4Enter APN
- Press APN.
- Key in telstra.wap and press OK.

An APN is used to establish a data connection.

5Enter country code
- Press MCC.
- Key in 505 and press OK.

6Enter network code
- Press MNC.
- Key in 01 and press OK.

7Select authentication type
- Press Authentication type.
- Press None.

8Select APN type
- Press APN type.
- Key in default and press OK.

9Save and activate data connection
- Press the Menu key.
- Press Save.
- Press the field next to Telstra Mail to fill in the field.
- Press the Home key to return to standby mode.

10Find "Email"
- Press Apps.
- Press Email.

If email accounts have been created already, press the Menu key. Press Settings. Press the add account icon.

11Enter email address
- Press account@example.com and key in your Telstra email address.

12Enter password
- Press Password and key in the password for your Telstra email account.
- Press Manual setup.

13Select server type
- Press IMAP account.

14Enter username
- Key in the username for your Telstra email account.

The username for your Telstra email account is your email address, e.g. user@bigpond.com, user@bigpond.net.au or user@telstra.com.

15Enter incoming server
- Press the field below IMAP server and key in imap.telstra.com

16Turn on encryption of incoming email
- Press the drop down list below Security type.
- Press SSL (Accept all certificates).

17Enter incoming port
- Press the field below Port and key in 993
- Press Next.

18Enter outgoing server
- Key in smtp.telstra.com

19Turn on encryption of outgoing email
- Press the drop down list below Security type.
- Press SSL (Accept all certificates).

20Enter outgoing port
- Press the field below Port and key in 465

21Turn on SMTP authentication
- Press Require sign-in to turn on SMTP authentication.
- When the box next to the menu item is ticked (V), SMTP authentication is turned on.
- Press the field below "User name" and key in the username for your Telstra email account.
- Press the field below "Password" and key in the password for your Telstra email account.
- Press Next.

The username for your Telstra email account is your email address, e.g. user@bigpond.com, user@bigpond.net.au or user@telstra.com.

22Select interval for synchronisation
- Press the drop down list below Peak schedule and Off-peak schedule.
- Press Never or the required interval.
- Please note:
- Each time your phone connects to the server to synchronise, data charges will apply.

23Turn email synchronisation on or off
- Press Sync Email to turn the function on or off.

24Turn email notification on or off
- Press Notify me when email arrives to turn the function on or off.

25Turn automatic retrieval of attachments when connected to a Wi-Fi network on or off
- Press Automatically download attachments when connected to Wi-Fi to turn the function on or off.
- Press Next.

26Enter email account name
- Press the field below Give this account a name (Optional) and key in a name for your email account (such as Private or Work).

27Enter sender name
- Press the field below Your name (displayed on outgoing messages) and key in the required sender name.

28Retrieve email
- Press Done.
- Wait while your phone retrieves new email.

29Exit
- Press the Home key to return to standby mode.
